KEEN Receives at $30,000 grant from CVS Caremark Charitable Trust

KEEN is delighted to announce this award, as part of CVS Caremark Charitable Trust’s $6.3 million in grants supporting causes including children with disabilities and those who are uninsured. The money will be used to enable KEEN, with assistance from nationally recognized researcher Dr. Rimmer of National Center on Physical Activity and Disability (NCPAD) to determine if our programs fully meet the exercise needs of our athletes - the children with disabilities we serve.


KEEN Greater DC Receives Top Honors

We are proud to announce that The Catalogue for Philanthropy: Greater Washington has selected KEEN Greater DC to be featured in the 2010-11 Catalogue. A panel of 90 expert reviewers from area foundations, corporate giving programs, larger non-profit organizations, and the DC government evaluated nearly 240 applications; KEEN Greater DC is one of 68 outstanding nonprofits to be featured this year!

KEEN St. Louis Receives Missouri Foundation for Health Grant
This grant provides funding over the next two years for staff salaries, equipment, and supplies associated with the KEEN Sports and Swim programs. The Missouri Foundation for Health is a philanthropic organization whose vision is to improve the health of the people in the communities it serves. With the support of MFH, KEEN will continue to be able to offer our unique, one-to-one sports coaching program free of charge to St. Louis youth with developmental and physical disabilities. MFH recognizes that KEEN’s program meets a critical health need for these underserved youth by providing them with a free and safe place for physical activity with the support of volunteer coaches. We are grateful for the support of MFH and look forward to a continued collaboration with them.

KEEN USA and Boundless Playgrounds received a $100,000 grant from CIGNA
This grant is to build an accessible playground in Phoenix, AZ and expand KEEN servies in the city of Phoenix. We are grateful to CIGNA for their support of KEEN programs. We are also thrilled to be partnering for the first time with Boundless Playgrounds.


Suzanne Wright of Autism Speaks Visits KEEN San Francisco!
Last December, Autism Speaks awarded KEEN USA a $14,285 grant in support of our affiliate expansion. Recently, Suzanne Wright, co-founder of Autism Speaks, visited KEEN San Francisco. She met KEEN athlete Jonah and his mother Sally along with a KEEN volunteer, KEEN SF Board President Stephanie Duchene, KEEN SF Executive Director Jennifer Senecal and KEEN USA Executive Director Linda Platt. KEEN USA Receives Daniels Fund Grant!
KEEN USA received an $11,000 grant from the Daniels Fund in support of our 2008 affiliate expansion. The Daniels Fund operates the Daniels Fund Scholarship Program and the Daniels Fund Grants Program. The Fund was established in 1997 by Bill Daniels, a pioneer in cable television know for his kindness and generosity to those in need.

Federal Communications Bar Association Foundation
KEEN was also recognized by the Federal Communications Bar Association Foundation. In 2005 they named KEEN Greater DC the sole beneficiary of the procedes of their annual silent auction - over $76,000 - to bring KEEN programs into the underserved area of Southeast DC.


Washingtonian Magazine
In celebration of its 40th anniversary, Washingtonian Magazine name KEEN Greater DC as one of the "40 organizations [that] strengthen the bodies and spirits of young Washingtonians."
