Kate Hurson

Kate came to KEEN in 1994 as a parent of a six year old son with autism. An active parent, she was soon asked to join KEEN's Board of Directors, where she became chair of the communications committee. She was deeply involved in KEEN's transition from a single program into a national organization, and a charter member of KEEN's national board of directors. While Kate has focused her energies at KEEN on communications and outreach, she has never forgotten that her original role in KEEN was to be the "voice of the athlete." And at the end of any given day, when asked what she did that day that made her very proud, the answer is easy: "KEEN!"

Kate works closely with the national Board of Directors and its committees, along with affiliate boards and staff, to ensure adherence to KEEN's mission and to help build capacity to serve more athletes and reach more volunteers.  Kate also serves as the in-house graphics designer and web master.
